The AI Agent Builder is an emerging specialist role defined by Microsoft's new AB-620 certification — focused on designing, building and deploying autonomous AI agents using Copilot Studio, Power Automate and Azure AI services. As enterprises move from AI assistants (that answer questions) to AI agents (that complete tasks autonomously), this role becomes critical. The AB-620 replaces elements of the retiring AI-102 for Power Platform-centric agent development. Role & Responsibilities: • Design and build autonomous AI agents using Copilot Studio: multi-turn conversation design, tool integration, memory management, action execution and escalation handling • Architect multi-agent systems: designing agent orchestration patterns where specialised agents collaborate to complete complex business processes, with appropriate human oversight checkpoints • Build agent tool integrations: connecting agents to business systems via Power Automate flows, custom connectors, Graph API and REST APIs — enabling agents to read, write and act on enterprise data • Implement agent memory and context management: designing how agents maintain context across sessions, remember user preferences and accumulate knowledge from interactions • Define agent governance and safety controls: content filtering, action boundaries, audit logging, human approval gates and graceful failure handling • Test and evaluate agent behaviour: building evaluation frameworks that test agent reliability, accuracy, appropriate escalation and correct tool use across diverse scenarios • Deploy agents across Microsoft ecosystem channels: Teams, Dynamics 365, Power Pages, SharePoint and custom applications • Stay current with Microsoft's agentic AI roadmap: Copilot Studio updates, new action types, multi-agent capabilities and Azure AI Agent Service Required Skills & Experience: • 4+ years of Power Platform or AI development experience with at least 1 year building production agents • Deep Copilot Studio expertise: you have built and deployed complex agents with multiple topics, tool integrations and enterprise data connections • Power Automate expertise for agent actions: complex flows, error handling, parallel branches and integration with external APIs • Understanding of agentic AI architecture: planning, tool use, memory, reflection and multi-agent orchestration patterns • Azure AI integration: Azure OpenAI, Azure AI Search and AI Foundry within Copilot Studio and Power Platform • AB-620 certification — required or actively in beta; candidates with AB-410 or AI-102 background are strongly positioned • LangGraph, AutoGen or equivalent multi-agent framework experience is a strong advantage What We Offer: • Specialist role at the frontier of Microsoft's agentic AI platform • Salary £75,000–£100,000 based on experience • Remote-first with Microsoft partner resources • Direct exposure to pre-release Copilot Studio capabilities and Microsoft AI roadmap The AI Agent Builder is the role that will define enterprise AI automation in 2026 and beyond — not chatbots that answer questions, but agents that complete work.
