AI-Assisted DevOps Engineer

The AI-Assisted DevOps Engineer has transformed their infrastructure and platform engineering practice by integrating AI coding tools across the entire DevOps workflow — from writing Terraform and Kubernetes manifests with Copilot to using AI to generate pipeline configurations, debug infrastructure issues, write runbooks and build observability dashboards. This role is for DevOps engineers who have genuinely rebuilt their workflow around AI assistance and can deliver infrastructure faster and more reliably as a result. Role & Responsibilities: • Design, build and maintain cloud infrastructure on Azure using Terraform and Bicep — with GitHub Copilot as a primary authoring tool for infrastructure-as-code • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps and GitHub Actions — using Copilot to generate pipeline YAML, write deployment scripts and automate testing stages • Manage Kubernetes workloads on AKS: writing and maintaining manifests, Helm charts and Kustomize configurations with AI assistance • Use AI tools to accelerate infrastructure debugging: explaining error messages, generating diagnostic scripts, identifying root causes from log patterns • Generate and maintain infrastructure documentation with AI assistance: runbooks, architecture diagrams descriptions, change management records and post-mortems • Write monitoring and alerting configurations using Prometheus, Grafana and Azure Monitor — using Copilot to build dashboards and alert rules faster • Evaluate and integrate new AI DevOps tools: AI-powered observability, intelligent incident response, automated remediation systems • Contribute to team AI DevOps best practices: documenting effective prompt patterns for infrastructure work, sharing what accelerates delivery and what requires careful review Required Skills & Experience: • 4+ years of DevOps or platform engineering experience • Active daily use of GitHub Copilot or equivalent AI coding tool for infrastructure work — demonstrated productivity gains, not occasional use • Strong Terraform expertise: modules, state management, workspaces and CI/CD integration • Azure platform knowledge: AKS, Azure DevOps, Azure Monitor, Key Vault, Container Registry • Kubernetes operational experience: deployment strategies, resource management, networking and troubleshooting • Python or Bash scripting for automation and tooling • Understanding of AI tool limitations in infrastructure contexts: generated Terraform may have subtle errors, security misconfigurations or deprecated syntax — you verify critically • Azure DevOps Engineer Expert (AZ-400) preferred; Terraform Associate is a strong advantage What We Offer: • DevOps engineering role in a team that uses AI tooling seriously • Salary £70,000–£95,000 based on experience • Remote-first with flexible working • Access to latest AI DevOps tooling and Azure preview services The AI-Assisted DevOps Engineer delivers infrastructure faster and more reliably by integrating AI throughout the DevOps workflow. If you have genuinely rebuilt your infrastructure practice around AI assistance and can show the results, this role is yours.
