The AI Product Lead owns the vision, roadmap and commercial success of AI-powered products — combining deep product management discipline with genuine understanding of what AI can and cannot do. The failure mode of this role is a classic PM who treats AI as a feature toggle. The success mode is a product leader who can have a peer-level conversation with an ML engineer about retrieval quality and hallucination rates while simultaneously writing the business case for the CFO. Role & Responsibilities: • Own the AI product roadmap: define what gets built, in what order, for what business outcome — balancing AI capability with user value and commercial return • Lead product discovery for AI features: user research, problem framing, success metric definition — with attention to where AI adds genuine value vs where deterministic logic is more reliable • Write AI product specifications that engineering teams can actually build: defining expected model behaviour, acceptable error rates, fallback handling and evaluation criteria • Define and track AI product metrics: not just engagement metrics but AI-specific quality metrics — precision, recall, user correction rates, trust scores • Lead the responsible AI review process for new features: assessing bias risks, privacy implications, transparency requirements and regulatory compliance • Own the build vs buy decision for AI capabilities: evaluate foundation model providers, fine-tuning requirements and open-source alternatives • Collaborate with AI engineers on prompt design and evaluation — you contribute to system prompts and make product decisions based on model performance data • Manage the AI product backlog with technical nuance: understanding that AI features have non-deterministic behaviour and planning for iteration Required Skills & Experience: • 5+ years of product management experience with at least 2 years on AI-powered products • Deep understanding of LLM capabilities and limitations — you know what hallucination is and how to design products that account for it • Experience working with AI engineering teams — you have reviewed evals, discussed retrieval quality and made product decisions based on model performance • Strong data literacy: you can read an A/B test, understand a confusion matrix and interpret an LLM evaluation benchmark • Excellent stakeholder management: from engineering teams to executive sponsors to enterprise customers • Experience with AI product ethics and governance — you have written responsible AI reviews, not just read them What We Offer: • Senior product leadership on AI products with real users and real revenue • Salary £100,000–£130,000 plus equity and bonus • Remote-first with occasional travel • Direct partnership with CTO and AI engineering leadership The AI Product Lead bridges what AI can do and what users actually need. If you have shipped AI products and understand the technical constraints deeply enough to make good trade-offs, this role is for you.
