The Azure AI App & Agent Developer is the code-first counterpart to the Copilot Studio AI Agent Builder — this role builds AI applications and autonomous agents using the Azure AI Foundry SDK, Semantic Kernel, Azure AI Agent Service and direct model APIs. The AI-103 certification replacing AI-102 reflects Microsoft's recognition that AI engineering now requires agentic development skills, not just AI services integration. Role & Responsibilities: • Build AI-powered applications and agents using Azure AI Foundry: model deployment, inference calls, RAG pipelines, agent orchestration and production monitoring • Develop with Semantic Kernel: building AI plugins, memory connectors, planner integration and multi-agent workflows in Python or C# • Implement Azure AI Agent Service: provisioning agents, defining tool schemas, building the execution loop and managing agent state in production • Build production RAG systems on Azure: Azure AI Search index design, chunking pipelines, hybrid search configuration and evaluation with Azure AI Evaluation SDK • Integrate Azure OpenAI and other models from the Azure AI Foundry model catalogue: selecting appropriate models for different tasks, managing costs and implementing fallback patterns • Implement responsible AI controls: Azure Content Safety integration, prompt shields, groundedness detection, PII handling and output filtering • Build AI application observability: tracing with Azure AI Foundry, logging model calls, tracking latency and cost, detecting quality degradation • Contribute to prompt engineering and evaluation: writing system prompts, building eval datasets and running automated quality assessments using Azure AI Evaluation • AI-103 certification (Azure AI App and Agent Developer, replacing AI-102) — required or actively in beta Required Skills & Experience: • 3+ years of software engineering experience with at least 2 years building Azure AI applications • Strong Python skills with production Azure AI SDK experience: Azure OpenAI, Azure AI Search, Azure AI Foundry SDK • Semantic Kernel expertise: plugins, planners, memory and multi-agent patterns — used in production • Understanding of agentic AI patterns: ReAct, tool use, multi-agent coordination, human-in-the-loop design • Azure infrastructure knowledge: Functions, Container Apps, API Management, Key Vault and Managed Identity • AI-103 or AI-102 certification required; AZ-204 (Azure Developer Associate) is a strong advantage What We Offer: • Hands-on AI engineering role on Azure's newest AI platform capabilities • Salary ₹45–65L based on experience • Remote-first with flexible working • Early access to Azure AI Foundry preview features and Microsoft AI partner programme The Azure AI App & Agent Developer builds the code-first AI systems that enterprises need when no-code tools aren't enough — production agents, custom RAG pipelines and AI-native applications that are reliable, governed and measurably valuable.
