A high-growth US SaaS company is hiring a Data Engineering Manager to lead a team of 6–8 engineers building the company's core data platform on Databricks and Azure. This is a player-manager role — you will contribute hands-on to architecture decisions while owning delivery, hiring and team development. Role & Responsibilities: • Lead, mentor and develop a distributed team of data engineers across India and the US • Own the roadmap for the data platform: ingestion, transformation, orchestration and serving layers • Drive the adoption of Databricks Workflows, Unity Catalog and Delta Live Tables across the team • Set engineering standards for code quality, testing, documentation and incident response • Partner with analytics, product and ML teams to prioritise and deliver shared data infrastructure • Conduct hiring interviews, performance reviews and career development conversations • Report to the VP of Engineering with visibility to C-suite on data platform health and roadmap • Hands-on contribution to complex pipeline architecture and code review Required Skills & Experience: • 6+ years of data engineering experience with 2+ years in a lead or management role • Strong Databricks and Azure expertise: Workflows, Unity Catalog, ADLS Gen2, ADF • Proven track record of managing and growing a team of engineers • Excellent communication skills — comfortable presenting to both engineers and executives • Experience with agile delivery, sprint planning and engineering metrics • Databricks certification preferred; Azure certifications are a plus • Experience in a B2B SaaS environment advantageous What We Offer: • Fully remote role operating on IST hours with US overlap (EST evenings) • Salary $120,000–$150,000 depending on experience • Equity package and annual performance bonus • Strong engineering culture with senior technical peers This role suits a senior data engineer ready to step into management without leaving the technical world behind — a position where your architecture decisions and your people decisions are equally valued.
