A European FMCG group with a technology hub in Bengaluru is hiring a Databricks Platform Engineer to own the administration, governance and performance of their enterprise Databricks environment. You will work alongside data engineering and ML teams to ensure the platform is secure, cost-optimised and ready for AI workloads at scale. Role & Responsibilities: • Administer the Databricks workspace: cluster policies, access controls, Unity Catalog governance and secret management • Design and implement Unity Catalog hierarchy — metastores, catalogs, schemas and table-level permissions • Optimise cluster configurations for cost and performance across batch, streaming and interactive workloads • Build and maintain platform infrastructure-as-code using Terraform and Databricks Asset Bundles • Monitor platform health, set up alerting and drive incident response for pipeline failures • Implement data quality frameworks using Delta Live Tables expectations and Great Expectations • Support data engineering and ML teams with platform onboarding, troubleshooting and best practices • Drive the migration from legacy Hive metastore to Unity Catalog Required Skills & Experience: • 3+ years of Databricks experience with a platform or infrastructure focus • Deep knowledge of Unity Catalog: setup, governance, lineage and fine-grained access control • Proficiency with Delta Lake: optimisation, Z-ordering, VACUUM, time travel and DLT pipelines • Experience with Terraform or Databricks Asset Bundles for infrastructure-as-code • Familiarity with Azure networking: VNet injection, Private Link, NSG configuration • Python proficiency for automation and tooling scripts • Databricks Certified Data Engineer Associate or Professional preferred What We Offer: • Hybrid working — 3 days from Bengaluru office, 2 days remote • Salary ₹28–40L based on experience • Exposure to a large-scale global data platform used across 50+ markets • Structured learning budget and Databricks certification support Ideal for a data engineer who enjoys the platform and infrastructure side of Databricks more than pipeline development — someone who wants to own the reliability and governance of the Lakehouse rather than individual data products.
