GitHub Copilot Developer

The GitHub Copilot Developer is a software engineer who has fundamentally changed how they work by integrating AI coding assistance into every part of their development workflow — not just autocomplete, but architecture thinking, test generation, code review, documentation and debugging. This role is for engineers who have genuinely adopted Copilot as a core part of their practice and can demonstrate measurably faster, higher-quality output as a result. Role & Responsibilities: • Develop production software using GitHub Copilot as a primary development tool across the full SDLC — design, implementation, testing, documentation and code review • Write effective prompts for Copilot to generate, refactor and explain code — using natural language precisely to get reliable, production-quality outputs • Use Copilot for test generation: writing unit tests, integration tests and edge case coverage with AI assistance, then validating and improving generated tests • Apply Copilot to code review workflows: using AI-assisted review to identify issues, suggest improvements and enforce coding standards consistently • Generate and maintain technical documentation using Copilot: API documentation, README files, architecture decision records and inline comments • Debug complex issues with Copilot assistance: using explain mode, fix suggestions and alternative implementations to resolve problems faster • Contribute to team Copilot best practices: sharing effective prompt patterns, documenting what works and helping less experienced team members accelerate their adoption • Stay current with GitHub Copilot feature releases: Copilot Chat, Copilot Workspace, Copilot Extensions — evaluating new capabilities and integrating them into team workflows Required Skills & Experience: • 3+ years of software engineering experience with strong proficiency in Python, TypeScript or Java • Active daily use of GitHub Copilot in a production development environment — you have measurable experience, not just occasional usage • Demonstrated ability to write effective Copilot prompts: you know when to be specific vs general, how to provide context and how to iterate when output is wrong • Experience with Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions for CI/CD pipeline work • Strong code review skills: you review AI-generated code critically, not just accept it • Understanding of AI coding tool limitations: you know when Copilot is likely to hallucinate or produce subtly wrong code and check accordingly • GitHub Copilot certification or GitHub Actions certification is advantageous What We Offer: • Engineering role in a team that takes AI-assisted development seriously • Salary £65,000–£90,000 based on experience • Remote-first with flexible working • Access to GitHub Copilot Enterprise and latest AI development tooling The GitHub Copilot Developer is not someone who occasionally uses tab-complete. They are an engineer who has rebuilt their development workflow around AI assistance and can demonstrate the productivity and quality gains to prove it. If that describes you, this role is yours.
