A global insurance group with an engineering hub in Bengaluru is hiring a Java Microservices Architect to lead the design and modernisation of their core insurance platform. You will define the microservices architecture that replaces a legacy monolith, working with engineering leads and product teams to deliver a cloud-native, AI-ready platform. Role & Responsibilities: • Define microservices decomposition strategy for the legacy insurance platform: domain boundaries, service contracts and data ownership • Design Java Spring Boot microservices for core insurance domains: policy management, claims processing, underwriting and billing • Architect event-driven communication patterns using Apache Kafka and Azure Service Bus for asynchronous workloads • Design Kubernetes deployment architecture on AKS: service mesh (Istio), ingress, autoscaling and observability • Define API gateway strategy using Azure API Management for internal and external service exposure • Lead technical design reviews, enforce architecture standards and contribute to engineering governance • Work with DevOps engineers on CI/CD pipeline design: GitHub Actions, ArgoCD and container image governance • Mentor senior engineers and conduct architecture assessments for new feature development Required Skills & Experience: • 8+ years of Java engineering experience with 3+ years in an architecture role • Expert Spring Boot knowledge: reactive programming with WebFlux, Spring Security and Spring Cloud • Production Kubernetes experience on AKS or EKS — cluster architecture, not just deployment • Strong Apache Kafka knowledge: topic design, consumer groups, schema registry and exactly-once semantics • Experience with distributed systems patterns: saga, outbox, CQRS and event sourcing • Azure cloud services: AKS, Service Bus, API Management, Cosmos DB or SQL • Domain-Driven Design (DDD) expertise for microservices decomposition What We Offer: • Hybrid role — 3 days Bengaluru office, 2 days remote • Salary ₹35–55L based on experience • Greenfield architecture opportunity on a flagship modernisation programme • Senior technical voice with direct exposure to global engineering leadership For a Java architect who wants genuine greenfield architecture ownership — not maintaining an existing design but building the next one from domain modelling through to production deployment.
