A US retail analytics firm building data products for major retail chains is hiring a Snowflake Data Engineer to design, build and optimise their cloud data warehouse platform. You will work with a team of analysts and data scientists to deliver trusted, performant data models that power retail intelligence dashboards and predictive analytics. Role & Responsibilities: • Design and build data pipelines ingesting from retail POS systems, eCommerce platforms and supply chain APIs into Snowflake • Build and maintain dbt models across staging, intermediate and mart layers following best practices • Optimise Snowflake performance: clustering keys, materialisations, result caching and warehouse sizing • Orchestrate data workflows using Apache Airflow on AWS MWAA; implement SLA monitoring and alerting • Implement data quality tests using dbt tests and Great Expectations • Collaborate with analytics engineers and data scientists to model retail KPIs: sell-through, inventory turns, cohort LTV • Manage Snowflake governance: role-based access, dynamic data masking and column-level security • Evaluate and integrate Snowflake native features: Snowpark, Cortex AI and data sharing Required Skills & Experience: • 4+ years of data engineering experience with strong Snowflake expertise • Proficiency with dbt (Core or Cloud) — experience with dbt project structure, macros and packages • Strong SQL skills; Python for pipeline scripting and Snowpark development • Experience with Airflow or equivalent orchestration tool • Familiarity with AWS data services: S3, Glue, Lambda, MWAA • Understanding of dimensional modelling and analytics engineering best practices • Snowflake SnowPro Core certification is advantageous; dbt certification is a plus What We Offer: • Fully remote role on IST hours with US EST overlap • Salary $100,000–$130,000 based on experience • Exposure to large-scale retail data — billions of transaction rows across major retail clients • Modern data stack with investment in tooling and platform quality This role suits a data engineer who has moved beyond basic SQL pipelines and wants to work on a well-governed, analytics-engineering-led data platform where data quality and model design are taken seriously.
